Prairie Roses

A dark pink rose growing in some trees at the edge of a pasture beside the highway, probably mark where an old homesite once stood.It is an extensive bush with tiny thorns and bushels of blooms.Another bush nearby in the undergrowth. Flanked by a pink variety.And the pale pink five-petaled pasture rose.

Wild Prairie Roses

In a dry and sun-filled place like this along a fence bordering a highway, a wild rose bush will encumber a fence until it hides it completely. It is a beautiful sight in late May and early June. Little Rose Bush on the Prairie

 I don't believe this is a wild rose. It was growing on a fence at an abandoned home site located a gravel road near Beggs Lake, Beggs, Oklahoma. Probably planted by the former resident, it is growing wild and beautiful, blooming profusely in the early summer heat.
