Whipped and worried by the wind,Tall feathers of grass sway and  playLike a maid's duster sweeping awayTired air, cleaning it of last year and last year'sMaking way for fresh air, and new.

A winter lakeDraws into its depthsSunlight, yellow and orange,Fading it with cold waterSaving it for the hotLong days ahead.

He lay too longLazing in summer sunWatching children Play at the water's edgeIn the warm sand.He lay too longLegs crossedReading a bookUnder a shade treeToo long sipping lemonadeBoaters left the lakeHe lay too longBeach chairs were put awayLeaves fell, grasses brownedSand and water grew coldHe lay too longHe's long gone.
