The Seasons Change

As the earth spins the seasons change us.

Amaryllis in Spring

Amaryllis~~ red and white bloom in the warmth of the house while winter cold lingers and the new year begins. Our souls have taken to comfort food, fuzzy blankets and woodstove fires. Then a flower opens and it is spring.

Tomatoes, carrots, radishes, lettuces, and cucumbers, yellow squash, and fresh corn on the cob come from the garden. Okra, peppers, eggplants potatoes, blueberries, figs, grapes, plums and blackberries and we feast. Summer’s sunlight and heat puts life back into our souls.

Dalias and zinnias–the flowers of fall sing to our hearts. Cool weather is coming and soon relief. The blossoms are bright and vibrant; they strike a chord in our hearts.

The autumn comes with bonfires and Jack-o-lanterns. Children run and play enjoying the cool air and the release from air conditioning. Rain falls and wind blows. Gradually everything changes including our minds.

We wake one morning to find frost on the tree branches and the fences. Then comes the snow. The sun shines and we retreat to a warm place by the fire. Wind blows, rain falls all night and cold arrives.

Come walk the year with me. Walk the seasons spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Your heart will grow and you’ll change with the earth.

It changes direction, turning around by His guidance that it may do whatever He commands it on the face of the inhabited earth. Whether for correction or for His world, or for lovingkindness, He causes it to happen.

Job 37:12-13
