Newborn Calves and Kittens

The babies make the farm a happy place.”

C e Hollis

Our barn cat is a beautiful gray and white. She gave us six pretty kittens born in a barrel. They are six weeks old now and ready for new homes. One of the cutest a gray with blue eyes has been claimed and taken home already. Four more are spoken for. The second mama cat birth to four long-haired kitties in the garage. They are the friendliest.

A cardinal built a nest in the crepe mettle bush outside my bedroom window. She had some hungry babies which the papa bird feeds.

A new calf in the grass. Seven of eight of our mama cows have birthed calves. There are three heifers and four bulls so far. It is amazing to see how soon after birth the calves start wobbling around and begin nursing. It is so much fun to watch them run and play together in the grass.

The cows take good care of their calves washing and feeding them and protecting them from buzzards, coyotes and other predators.

“God made the animals of the earth according to their kind, and the livestock and everything that crawls on the ground, according to its kind; and God saw that it was good.”

Genesis1:25
