Spring Comes to the Prairie

Spring Fashion

Earth sleeps all winter and in the spring

Wakes and yawns and lazes abed;

As softly birds begin to sing

Warm sunlight streams in and windchimes ching,

Dreams and shadows take to the wing

Then she lifts and rubs her sleepy head.

Suddenly she’s up and flings

The cumbersome bulky blankets aside.

She puts on her newest, her freshest things,

Her clothes of pinks, whites, yellows, and greens

She breathes deep and dons her wings,

And all the colors the season can’t hide.
