Dogwood Time

“When Easter comes the trees clap their hands and the daffodils and tulips sound their trumpets.”

c e hollis

The dogwood loves a windy spring day where dew falls in the new grass and fresh young leaves are springing forth. The dogwood tells the Easter story of Christ’s crucifiction with its four crossed petals tipped with pink for the blood and a crown in its center.

Here is a pink dogwood graceful in its branches and striking in color. Its leaves signal new life to the world around and then all the trees happily follow suit knowing spring has come.

Softer than satin, the dogwood petals lift their hands to the sky and praise God for His goodness to man.

A red dogwood graces the woods with bright spring color defying the “spring is pastel only” phrase.

The white and red dogwoods among the redbuds and fruit trees, white pear trees and purple /pink magnolias paint a picture no artist could create, but only copy and that a poor copy.

Thank You, Lord for the trees and flowers that usher in a new season and that a beautiful one.

I love your spring wind,
Lord,... its bright prancing.
It makes me want to dance too,
to roll a hoop, throw confetti,
gather armloads of flowers.

Marjorie Holmes

For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace;

The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you,

And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

Isaiah 55:12
