My Office At the Farm

“A writer needs a peaceful and quiet place to think and put wings to words.”
C E Hollis

My office is full of clutter just like me. I collect baskets and pinecones, rocks and seashells. my certificates are hung on the walls. I have Christian Writer’s Guild, Institute of Children’s Literature, Toastmasters International, and Achievement in Photography. I also have some framed writing contest certificates mostly for magazine articals, devotionals, stories, and poetry.

I’ll start with my main piece of furniture –– my desk. It’s an old teacher’s desk and has a file drawer, two pullout boards, a pencil drawer, and four more storage drawers. It holds my computer and my printer. Beside it is a bookcase and also a file cabinet.

Above my desk is my vision board. Since I am writing about the ocean it is decorated with waves and sand, boats and a lighthouse. I also play ocean sounds, that is, thundering waves and seagulls calling. I light a candle that smells like the beach.

Here are some of my certificates. I remind myself I can write and speak and take good photos.

My bookcase holds my how-to writing books and reference books like dictionary, concordance, Draper’s quotations, Oxford Quotations, Word Finder, Bible, Roget’s Thesaurus, and books on writing.

“But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body.”

Ecclesiastes 12:12 NASB
