A Grateful List

“ To be grateful is to acknowledge that God is in the world.”

c.e. hollis

Apple blossoms, stacks of unread books, voices of friends, the smell of supper cooking, the taste of garlic toast, chickens cackling as they strut about their coop, opening the mailbox and finding it full.

The grass on my bare feet, the prick of rose thorns, the wind in the treetops, the smell of strong coffee brewing, finding buds on one of my houseplants, the flavor of smoked ham, sitting down with a friend for a visit, a fresh tablet for writing, a just-right, feel -good poem.

Licorice, a bowl of warm creamy tapioca, counting the songs in a mockingbird’s repertoire, hot buttered movie popcorn, a chance to try a new food, the chance to make a new friend, the opportunity to go somewhere I’ve never been, the chance to hear some music, to view some art, to take a few photographs, to sing along.

What do you love about your life?

What makes you grateful?

“ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of Lights, with whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turrning. ”

James 1:17 NLT
