The Grass is Greener

“To stay green a lawn needs water ; to stay healthy a heart needs prayer and the water of God’s word.”

The grass is not always greener in Oklahoma. In winter it turns brown or a faded pinkish rust tone . In the spring fields of luscious green strike the eye. That’s winter wheat. When I see one of those fields I can hardly wait.

Then summer arrives and the grass is green and growing like mad. The cows rejoice and spend every day busy feasting.

The green does some healing of your mind. It wipes away some of the depression and anxiety of the winter. It gives you hope and cheer, especially when the purple and white clovers arrive.

The dandelions come up by the thousands and when they’ve bloomed they send off their seeds attached to tiny white parachutes.

The grass is surely greener and calls to be mowed again after just a week. The roses are blooming and the sun shines bright and warm.

The baby birds are taking their first flights out of the nests. And the kittens are opening their eyes. Summer has come and soon will be super heated . The grass will grow greener and our souls will heal.

“His delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither, and in whatever he does, he prospers.”

Psalm 1: 3-4
